The Inter-University Football Super League started hosted by MAKÜ

The 'Inter-University Football Super League Competitions' organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation started on May 5, 2025, hosted by Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ). The organization, in which 12 university teams from all over Turkey participate, will conclude with the final matches to be held on Sunday, May 11.
The tournament, in which teams from Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul Technical University, Manisa Celal Bayar University, Marmara University, Istanbul Aydın University, Süleyman Demirel University, Üsküdar University, Haliç University, Selçuk University, Ege University, Erciyes University, and Karadeniz Technical University compete, promises a week full of sports.
Speaking at the opening of the tournament, Turkish University Sports Federation Representative Prof. Dr. Reşat Kartal highlighted the opportunities provided by MAKÜ, saying, “I have been in this business for 50 years. Among the universities I have seen so far, one of the most important and beautiful organizations is taking place here. I thank our esteemed Rector, the Faculty of Sports Sciences, and the staff of the Health, Culture, and Sports Department. I also convey the greetings of our Federation President Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen to you. I wish you all a healthy, successful, and friendship-filled tournament.”
MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized the importance of sports in the university's vision in his speech. Highlighting that MAKÜ is an athlete training and camp center established with the support of the Spor Toto Organization and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dalgar said, “This facility, located at an altitude of 1200 meters, hosts professional teams from both domestic and international locations, especially in the summer months. Together with the University Sports Federation, we have started organizing events so that our students can also benefit from these opportunities. Throughout the winter, we hosted many sports events. As a result, our facilities have started to be used actively for 12 months of the year.”
Prof. Dr. Dalgar emphasized that sports is one of the core values of the university, saying, “Our university is named after our national poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who is also known for his identity as a wrestler and swimmer. As part of the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Commemoration Week events that we will organize in December, we are planning various sports organizations. I thank all my team members who work to ensure our students can engage in sports in the most comfortable environment.”
