The commemoration program held at Avşarhan Cinema Hall began with the recitation of the Qur'an. Then, the conference titled 'The Spirit of July 15' was held, with Faculty of Theology Dean Prof. Dr. Yasin Pişgin as the speaker.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Yasin Pişgin told the youth about Asım's generation and the examples of heroism displayed on the night of July 15. He emphasized that the nation's steadfast stance against the treacherous coup attempt was written in golden letters in the pages of history.
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, who also spoke at the program, described the events of that night as "like a nightmare" and stated that the unity of the nation and the strength of the state played a key role in overcoming this process. In his speech, Dalgar reminded the gravity of the events by saying, "In this age, what kind of audacity is it to fire at the nation with the nation's own weapons?"
Dalgar also emphasized that universities should not only train individuals who are experts in their fields but also moral, community-oriented, and loyal to their nation. He underlined that the most important lesson to be learned after the night of July 15 is this.
In addition to Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, the university administration, academicians, foreign students receiving Turkish education within the scope of the Mevlana Exchange Program, and many MAKÜ students attended the event.
