In his speech, Prof. Dr. Gürsoy touched upon the establishment process of the coordination and drew attention to similar studies conducted under the leadership of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and their examples worldwide. Emphasizing the importance of conveying scientific knowledge to society in a correct and understandable manner, Gürsoy stated that activities should not be limited only to the boundaries of the university. He underlined that activities should be organized in flexible times and places to reach wider audiences.
In the continuation of the meeting, Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Ulutaş introduced the coordination team and provided information about the ongoing studies. Ulutaş stated that the role of academic unit representatives in the process is critical and shared the evaluation of the eight events held so far. It was emphasized that activities should be disseminated not only in the center but also in surrounding districts.
The meeting, where it was emphasized that volunteerism, team spirit, and cooperation are the fundamental principles in the coordination's work, ended with a question-and-answer session where representatives' views and suggestions were taken. Increasing on-site visits and stakeholder-focused studies in the new term were also among the topics discussed.
