Message of Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar on July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day

DO NOT FEAR!

We are on the ninth anniversary of July 15, 2016, which we turned into a heroic epic by uniting as a nation. That dark night was illuminated by the steel will and love of the homeland of our nation against the dark ambitions of a treacherous network, and this Victory's Name is Turkey.

Our National Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy called out to our nation in our War of Independence with “Do not fear!” On the night of July 15, our nation heeded this call once again and shielded their homeland. Just like in those days, we proved to the whole world that we could unite around the ideal of “one nation, one flag, one homeland, one state” by setting aside our differences. This spirit is, as our Prophet (sas) also stated, “There is mercy in unity, torment in separation” the most concrete, most vivid manifestation of this belief.

This victory is the result of our determination to protect our democracy, our rule of law, and our future against terrorist organizations that attempt to usurp the national will. The vision of the Century of Turkey, which we pursue by standing against all forms of terrorism with the spirit of July 15, derives its strength from this unshakable unity. This spirit is the greatest guarantee of our country's progress towards bright tomorrows.

As Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, our greatest duty is to keep this spirit alive and carry it into the future. Preparing our young people, who love their homeland and nation, who embrace their own history and values, and who also walk in the light of universal knowledge, for the future is our greatest debt of gratitude to our martyrs and veterans. 

With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate our July 15 martyrs with mercy and gratitude. I express my gratitude to our heroic veterans who wrote an epic with their courage and wish them healthy lives.

May Allah never let this nation experience such pains again.

With the belief in eternally preserving our national unity, I respectfully salute our dear nation.
