Date | 28 October 2026, Wednesday
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar published a message on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day.
Rector Dalgar included the following statements in his message:
“WE WILL ELEVATE OUR REPUBLIC'S SECOND CENTURY WITH SCIENCE, PRODUCTION, AND OUR YOUNG PEOPLE”
We celebrate the 103rd anniversary of our Republic with the belief in our nation's independence will and the responsibility of building our future together.
Our Republic, established with the principle that “Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation,” is the result of our nation's determination to determine its own destiny. The courage, sacrifice, and spirit of solidarity that carried our Independence Struggle to victory is still our greatest strength guiding our country's future.
The wars occurring in different geographies of the world and the oppressions that wound humanity's conscience remind us once again of the value of independence, sovereignty, and living in peace. With this awareness, protecting our Republic requires strengthening the legacy we have inherited with the efforts, knowledge, and achievements of each generation.
In the second century of our Republic, our ideal of complete independence is being carried to new horizons with scientific discoveries, the technologies we develop, the values we produce, and our qualified human resources. We must produce our own knowledge, develop our own solutions, and contribute to humanity's common heritage in every field that shapes our future, from artificial intelligence to defense technologies, from energy to agriculture.
At the center of this responsibility are our universities and our youth. Our duty is to encourage the curiosity of our young people, create space for their thoughts, and increase the opportunities for them to realize their dreams.
As Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University; we see preparing our youth for the future not only with their professional competencies but also with critical thinking skills, ethical values, and responsibilities towards humanity as our fundamental duty to our Republic.
Dear young people; in the second century of our Republic, we trust in your courage, your efforts, and your imagination. We are working for an educational environment where each of you can discover your own talent and have a say in the future of our country.
With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, all the heroes of our National Struggle, and our martyrs with mercy and gratitude; I extend my thanks to our veterans. I sincerely celebrate the October 29 Republic Day of our university members and our esteemed nation.
Long live the Republic!
Long live a fully independent Turkey!
Prof. Dr. Hüseyin DALGAR
Rector of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University
