One of Burdur's natural heritages, Salda Lake, hosted a science and nature-themed event this time. On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in the program organized by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), Salda Lake Science Center, and the Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) 6th Regional Directorate, students and experts spent a day intertwined with nature.
The event started at the Salda Lake Nature Park Visitor Center. The program was attended by Salda Lake Science Center Director Prof. Dr. İskender Gülle, MAKÜ Faculty of Arts and Sciences Vice Dean Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Öztop, DKMP Wetlands Branch Acting Director Ersan Berberoğlu, Burdur DKMP Chief Şeyda Şişman, and university students.
Speaking at the opening, Wildlife Protection and Rehabilitation Application and Research Center Director Dr. Lecturer Yasemin Özdemir provided information about the purpose of the event and made evaluations about the bird diversity and wildlife in the region. Participants were informed about the ecological importance and functioning of Salda Lake Nature Park.
The event then continued at the Salda Lake Science Center. Here, Prof. Dr. İskender Gülle gave detailed presentations on the geological and hydrological structure of Salda Lake and the surrounding Yarışlı Lake.
In the practical training section of the program, nature observations and environment-conscious activities were conducted under the leadership of Wetlands Branch Acting Director Ersan Berberoğlu.
At the end of the event, students expressed their satisfaction with both the knowledge they gained and the special day they spent with nature. Participants shared their views on increasing similar events and offered their suggestions to the authorities.
